Dr. Carolyn Clay

Dr. Carolyn Clay

Veterinarian

Dr. Carolyn Clay is a native of Richmond, Virginia, who graduated from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech in 2004. She has been a part of the Church Hill Animal Hospital team since its beginning in 2003. Dr. Clay has also worked for a small animal/exotic practice, 24-hour general/emergency practice. In 2015 she started Animal and Exotic Veterinary Services, a house-call practice.

Dr. Clay’s many veterinary medicine interests include general medicine and surgery, dentistry, laser therapy, exotic pets, and senior care. She is passionate about helping clients find honest, practical treatments that work for them and their animals. Dr. Clay is an advocate for homeless animals. She has fostered and adopted many stray animals over the years. Dr. Clay also volunteers at the Richmond Wildlife Center as a veterinarian and board member.

She lives in Montpelier with her husband and two teenage children and their various rescued pets, including three dogs, four cats, a rabbit, and some fish. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, hiking, camping, and spending time with friends and family in the mountains of Augusta County. She also serves as an adult leader of her daughter’s scouts BSA troop.

Dr. Crystal Myers

Dr. Crystal Myers

Veterinarian

Dr. Crystal Myers started at Church Hill Animal Hospital in 2022, initially as a relief vet before becoming a regular part of the team. A 2008 graduate of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Myers enjoys educating clients and handling complex medical cases. In her personal time, she tends to her pets, explores new restaurants, enjoys stand-up comedy, and relaxes with Netflix binges.

Dr. Tony Pizzelanti

Dr. Tony Pizzelanti

Veterinarian

Dr. Tony Pizzelanti joined Church Hill Animal Hospital in May 2024, bringing 4 years of experience as a veterinarian and 6 years as a veterinary assistant. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and has a strong professional focus on surgery, client communication, feline care and exotic animal medicine. In his personal time, Tony enjoys rock climbing, hiking, and creating handmade jewelry.

Diana

Diana

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Diana has been part of the Church Hill Animal Hospital team since August 2023, working in the veterinary field since 2017. She earned her license from Blue Ridge Community College and has a strong interest in laboratory work, surgery, dentals, and client interaction. Outside of work, Diana loves being outdoors, hiking, swimming, playing music, and spending time with her pets.

Katie

Office Manager

Katie has been with Church Hill Animal Hospital since it opened in 2003. Starting part-time, she transitioned into her full-time management role in 2004. Katie enjoys forming connections with clients and their pets, fostering a welcoming atmosphere. In her free time, she loves spending time with her husband, two daughters, and their two rescue dogs, Odin, a Rottweiler, and Freya, a Pit Bull.

Veterinary Assistant

Grace has been part of the Church Hill Animal Hospital team since October 2017 and has over 10 years of experience in the veterinary field. She is passionate about working in the lab and building strong relationships with both clients and their pets. Outside of work, Grace enjoys playing video games and staying active through workouts.
Sara

Sara

Veterinary Assistant

Sara joined Church Hill Animal Hospital in August 2023 and has been working in the veterinary field since 2019. She enjoys working in the lab and has a deep love for cats. In her free time, Sara plays video games—especially farming simulators, Pokémon, and Animal Crossing—and loves spending time with her son. She also collects frogs, has pet spiders, and her favorite are jumping spiders. Fun fact: Sara is left-handed!

Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist

Callie joined Church Hill Animal Hospital in August 2023 and has been working in the veterinary field for 5 years. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science with a Companion Animal emphasis from Virginia Tech. Her professional interests focus on animal welfare, nutrition, and preventative healthcare. In her free time, Callie loves spending time outdoors with her miniature dachshunds and is passionate about all things Dachshund-related. She also has a special interest in pets with cerebellar hypoplasia, inspired by her own beloved cat, who has this condition and holds a special place in her heart.
Jacqueline

Jacqueline

Client Care Representative

Jacqueline began working at Church Hill Animal Hospital in November 2023 and brings over 17 years of experience in veterinary medicine. She enjoys helping clients, managing detailed medical histories, and caring for pets. Outside of work, Jacqueline is renovating her home and enjoys painting, biking, pottery, hiking, and traveling.
